When Tek congealed and finally woke into this world, it did not go well, objectively. There's this speculation that the excavated who are bled out are inherently more monstrous than those who are excised, and the tantrum that he threw upon awakening sure helped that rumor spread.

He has since "reformed" and "recovered," he insists. The switch to compliance was a little abrupt for most people's liking--especially for those who actually saw the faces and abilities he revealed during his little eruption--but there hasn't been anything since then that could actually be held against him. He certainly is suspicious with his reptile-smile, going about his dangerous work as if it holds no threat to him. He dispatches Hate-things a little too easily, and tends to toil in the mines with an incomplete set of armor.

How could something so at-ease around Hate be all that different from it, they sometimes whisper. Why is he wearing so much Calm Crown outside of the mine, if it really is only for his work?

The rumors continue to remain only rumors, however. He has been serving as a loyal (and skilled) piercer for over a year now, and hasn't caused any trouble that someone could actually pin him for.
